Exam timetables

1. For Undergraduate (UG) Programmes

  • Kumaun University follows a semester system comprising odd and even semesters.
  • Odd semester examinations are typically held during December–January, while even semester examinations are conducted during May–June.
  • The university issues examination schedules (Date Sheets) for B.A. / B.Sc. / B.Com. and other undergraduate programmes for each semester.
  • The Semester Ordinance 2016, listed in the University’s Ordinances section, governs internal assessment, practical examinations, and related academic rules for undergraduate students.
  • As per University ordinance, a candidate who fails to pass a semester is required to reappear in the failed papers in the next examination cycle (i.e., appear as an ex-student) for that semester.

2. Specifics for B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education)

  • The B.Ed. programme under Kumaun University is of two years duration, consisting of four semesters.
  • As per the University ordinance applicable to the Faculty of Education, if a candidate fails in a semester, continuation of study or attendance in the subsequent semester is subject to prescribed rules and conditions, and progression beyond permissible limits is not allowed without passing.
  • Rules related to internal assessment, practical examinations, and viva-voce for the B.Ed. programme are governed in accordance with the general University ordinances, as the ordinance document is common across faculties.
  • The University’s Semester Ordinance provides for internal evaluation, practical examinations, and viva-voce components for undergraduate courses.
  • The percentage weightage of internal assessment versus external (theory) examinations is 25:75 for B.A. and B.Sc. programmes and 30:70 for the B.Ed. programme.
